iMac G5 display performance

Hi Chris,

Apple says it has the same 20" Cinema display inside and my Eye One says the same.

Mail me off list for comparison profiles.

Remember that 2gb max ram limit and a single G5 Processor machine for PS CS2 is a pain.

I'll try this again:

I had posted a question a couple of weeks ago about what people think
of using the 20" iMac G5 as a "dirt cheap demo machine" for
demonstrating consistent color. I got one for my wife, and it is
quite nice. The monitor is gorgeous. I couldn't calibrate her old
iMac G4 to save my life, but the G5 seems to be really stable and (to
my jaundiced eye) fairly linear.

At least her prints look a whole lot like what's on her monitor in a
D65 lit room.

I want to set up a quick "color check" system here at work. I am
currently using a couple of LaCie ElectronBlue 19" LCDs, and they are
nice. However, their performance seems about equivalent to what I get
with my wife's computer. They are being driven by an old G4
Quicksilver and a Windows machine.

I ain't about to plunk down nearly 7K for the nice Eizo. Since I am
not trying to perform actual color science here (I just want a demo
room, and a place for my engineers to verify the basic fidelity of
their images), I think that the iMac G5 may be a good compromise.

I am wondering if you color-scientist types might have an opinion on
whether or not this seems feasible.
