Sorry this doesn't answer your question directly, but it sounds to me

the amount of work you're doing to compensate for 2.0's inadequacies is
costing you a whole lot more than Adobe's upgrade price. I know many
shops
refuse to upgrade anything ever, but you say you're running 10.4, so I
have
to wonder why you're torturing yourself like that.
IDCS2 is still a pretty incomplete/murky set of tools. Adobe continues
to tease and confound.
Dwane,
I understand the desire to do what you're doing on the cheap, but I
think you may be costing yourself more money in the act. Doesn't take a
lot of lost press time to do it. That being said —
1) Can your RIP adequately perform ICC color transforms? If so, you
might consider making the transforms part of the queues.
2) Can you RIP accept PDFs. If so, you might take a look at some of the
PDF color management tools on the market. Some of them are relatively
inexpensive.
iQueue is a BEAUTIFUL tool. However, Gretag abandoned development at a
point where it doesn't handle all postscript level 3 constructs
correctly. Gretag got it right - the whole damned thing — and then
dropped it. Gretag, I'm begging you, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeze restart
development on iQueue. Or some of you other developers,
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeze take a look at iQueue. That's how it's suppose to
work!!!
