Not all images require conversion using black point compensation. The
vast majority do. Since ColorSync doesn't have black point
compensation, I consider conversions that depend on ColorSync without
separate black point compensation implemented, as being Tonka Toys.
(I grew up with Tonka Toys, they are cool, but they are not for
serious work.)
While the argument that consumers don't care, what is this? A
professional OS with professional level color capability? Or is it
just for consumers? Right now, the results are limited by the lack of
BPC, which has become a basic requirement for color conversions.
If you want to process PDFs after they are made, look at the latest
version of PDF Enhancer v3.1, which supports devicelink profiles, and
also supports black point compensation.
