Marco,
My point was that MOST users of Epson printers still don't have calibrated
monitors and still don't read color management books, lists, etc. I give
occasional talks on digital imaging and color management, and show people
how to calibrate a monitor. But I haven't yet persuaded one person to buy
the kit and do it! I've even given two people old Spyders, but they don't
use them!!
The 'masses' who buy and use inkjet printers don't do color management, and
Printer Color Management is the normal printer mode produced for them and
their sRGB images. I think you will find that NCA and Custom Profiles are
used by a very small 'elite' of Epson users, and probably even fewer of
HP/Canon/Lexjet users.

Matching printed output to an uncalibrated monitor is a feat of high
order,
possibly worthy of Don Quijote.
The best one can hope to achieve with driver color controls, through
tedious
and time-consuming trial-and-error, is to "game" the output so that it
becomes somewhat predictable. That was what we all used to do before color
management (along with a lot of cursing...).
