Hi again Bob.
Do I notice irritation in your reply? Please don't get upset. I meant no
harm with my remark. Just stating what possibly appears to me and you and
some others like an obvious point, but may need restating for others who are
still thinking things through for themselves.
As for what you say, I agree completely: the use of color-managed techniques
is still an elite practice, unfortunately, in commercial printing as well as
in personal use by the average person at home.
Color management is a spiky subject, full of pitfalls and dead spots, and I
was able to get some kind of a grip on it only through a combination of my
background as a photographer-cum-darkroom printer with my stubborn
determination to figure out technical hurdles in my work. But most people
just want to press a button and get a picture, no muss, no fuss.
So, yes, what you say is right on the money.
