one word.
nozzles.
9 times out of ten we've found that clogged nozzles have been responsible for all sorts of strange 'profile' behavior.
In many cases - especially in the light inks - nozzles can clog in a way that does not show up in the images as streaking so people go running off after other issues (or rebuild profiles).
In this particular case it sounds like they were clogged and have now cleared themselves so you won't have any way of checking to see if that was the cause... but statistics suggest it was...
