Is it possible that:
1) the box contained sheets that came from different batches, and some had more OBs than the others, though they were all supposed to be the same?
2) that your measuring instrument was not reliable, and therefore picked up readings at different times that differed in the blue end of the spectrum?
Also, in MeasureTool, take a look at the remission diagram for the white patches in the mearument data for the paper that does *not* trigger the OB coorection option, and see whether there is anything resembling a spike in the 380-440nm range.
