The majority has PMP which has no way of generating custom targets based on linearization data so you are stuck with generic targets that don't perform as well. When people profile a non linear device in PMP and see less than perfect gray balance results they often say "oh well, I guess that's the best we can do" when they could be getting better results with MP's custom targeting approach.
I can see some disadvantages to this approached when working with true RGB photo-printer's (Lambda, Light-jet etc.)
Most users of these machines will run (hopefully) a linearization strip through the built in software/hardware every morning or on a roll change of media. Surely if another MP linearization is taking place over this lin, the profile cannot be accurate unless the user goes through the chore of creating a new profile every time they re-lin and again re-lin in MP. Another point I should mention is that if these machines are linearization and profiled correctly you will not see the double black issue.
