Most of what I've printed so far has gone out as unmounted work-a-day
prints; press proofs, sales support, and the like. So far I've just
been using standard Epson paper, Glossy, Semi-Gloss & Enhanced Matte in
my 2200. I need to produce several portfolios before Christmas, and my
thoughts of the proper paper tend toward the old C-Print finish.
However, bronzing really kills some of the better choices.
So far, I have printed samples on Epson's Premium Glossy, Luster, Semi-
Gloss, & Enhanced Matte, and Ilford Gallerie Classic Pearl Paper, and
Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl. The Ilford was an unfortunate choice since
it is apparently a dye paper, and the printer's rollers made track marks
as they pulled the ink from the paper. Galerie Smooth Pearl is said to
be the flavor for pigments.
Are there any recommendations out there for additional papers to try?
Are the K3 printers all that better than my 2200 for bronzing? Someone
sent me some K3 prints on Pictorico PGHG White Film that were beautiful,
no bronzing, although the surface does seem a bit delicate for scratching.
Last question... For package mock-ups, here at the office, I haven't
bothered to setup the Seal press, but have used a 3M cold adhesive that
works, but it's a mess to work with. Is there any problem with going
back to dry mounting inkjet papers?
Oh... One more question. I read somewhere that a brand of inkjet paper
needs the same brand of ink. True?
