Title: Re: Question on Video RAM (Eric
Bullock)
Macworld showed recently in their (limited) tests that increasing
the amount of (system, not video) RAM only speeds up PS CS2 up to a
certain point. In particular, on a G5 they found that going from 512MB
to 1GB increased speed only slightly. See:
http://www.macworld.com/2006/02/features/speedram/index.php
I'm actually curious about what people think of running PS on a
machine with multi-GB's of RAM -- I always though that would speed it
up (so I've always bought lots of RAM), but this new test suggests
that PS speed is limited by something else. Maybe the effect of RAM on
speed depends on what exactly you are doing in PS? Like needing to
work with files larger than Macworld's (50MB)?
