While not specifically a color management question, I know that there are a number Artisan users on this list, so I'm hoping that someone has some information relating to this problem:
Having upgraded my system from 10.3.9 to to 10.4.2, and then 10.4.4 after testing, I have continued to experience a strange problem with the Artisan v1.2.5 software since the Tiger upgrade:
If I launch the Artisan software, it immediately deletes all of my startup items data, contained in ~/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist, leaving a zero-length file in its place. This happens whether or not Artisan Startup or Artisan are enabled as a startup item. I need only launch the application to produce the symptom.
As a defense I tried locking loginwindow.plist, but this would cause Artisan.app to quit immediately on launch, without any crash alert or crash log data.
I also tried removing all elements of any previous install (removing frameworks and both global and local preference folders), and do a clean install of the software, but the symptoms continue unabated, even with a safe boot, disabling application enhancers, and logging in without launching any startup items. No other program is causing my loginwindow.plist file to be trashed. Running Disk Utility or fsck shows no irregularities.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It seems so weird, because why would Artisan.app be doing anything to modify loginwindow.plist, especially if it has been removed from being a startup item (though really, that should not even be a factor).
It occurred to me that if loginwindow.plist and some key file for the Artisan were cross-linked, maybe something like that could happen, but diagnostics do not show this to be the case, and at any rate, I have deleted and replaced all pertinent files for scratch more times than I care to think about.
Any clues?
