Hi,
Check out the products from GATF at www.gain.net especially look for:
GCA/PIA/GATF Proof Comparator III
"Like the GCA/PIA/GATF Proof Comparator III, the Digital Proof Comparator also contains targets that measure the exposure, resolution, and directional effects of the imaging system in addition to its reproduction characteristics. A unique aspect of the Digital Proof Comparator is that it carries on a two-way dialogue with output devices by changing its dimensional tolerances and element sizing in response to the resolution of the raster image processor. This interactive target reports several key-imaging attributes as well as provides the highest resolution measurements that can be obtained for a given imaging device. The Digital Proof Comparator is a native PostScript file that generates a one-megabyte target that measures 6.5x2 in.
Includes one CD with both Macintosh and PC formats"
best, gordo

Marco,
That is a good question. The places that I learned about this was by looking
at products, like EFI, GMG, Monaco QC color, Color Sciences, Oris etc.
The rip vendors all offer pass/fail solutions that take about a minute to
measure.
