A good point. I had previously set up up MeasureTool for
use as a proof verification solution at a remote site. Its a little more work to
get it up and running (creating the colorbar, reference file and standard to
compare to) and not as intuitive as a standalone software for that purpose, but
it can be done pratically for free using the demo version (though you need a
spectro). Just measure your color bar and use the Comparing feature to calculate
delta E to your standard.
I like GMG Proof Control, and we use Colormetrix in house. We're
currently looking into a server based solution to allow remote sites to report
data to a central location. Something like Monaco QCcolor, Colormetrix GcX (a
tad $$$) and some other sponsored programs allow this. For a single seat though,
Proof Control is hard to beat...simple and relatively inexpensive, though
I haven't looked at the BasICColor solution.
