the very knowledgeable (to me) man at
Eizo’s stand at Photo East said that a serious problem with LED displays was
heat affecting the stability of the display over any medium-long term.
any opinion of this or is it merely a barbed
competitors comment?
I read with interest the opinions of the
experts on the relative benefits of wide gamut displays, but should point out
that in my workflow at least it would indeed be a boon.
my prints go out on Epson 9800 which is
wider than ARGB in some areas and far wider than normal print CMYK, so being
able to soft proof in a bigger gamut is very helpful.
as for 8bit pipelines on these monitors,
and how that negates using wide gamut display, in Karl’s oft-copied
posting.
It may be one of those instances where
technically correct facts and everyday practice don’t add up.
the often cited 4 or 5 dE figures are
extreme cases, as he suggests in his original note, and it is mostly much less
than that.
