Only if you are foolish enough to forgo a contract proof. I don¹t see how
that isn¹t still the case with a digital workflow.

Why not? Is this impractical for all photographers?

Might work on this side of the pond if printers actually conformed to what
they say they do. Over here, the line is "we print SWOP."
