Hi Toshia,
About a year ago I did some research into resources of the type you are
searching for. I did not find a lot of information in this area. The
one book that does have information in this area is "Digital Video and
HDTV Algorithms and Interfaces". The author is Charles Poynton. This
is not light reading. The book is not well organized. It is not nearly
as good a read as "Real World Color Management". However, the
information is there. It takes some work to dig it out.
If you think that the color space of a standard TV is anything like the
color space of a typical computer monitor, you are in for a shock. The
problem is not the characteristics of the CRT or LCD, it is the encoding
methods. The encoding methods of a standard NTSC television limit the
color space. Now we have new encoding methods that are better in the
HDTV area. However, we have many technologies in the monitor area. We
have Plasma, LCD, CRT, DLP, and some new ones on the way.
Have you ever walked into a show room full of TV sets. Are any two the
same color?
Good luck. I hope someone in this group has a better idea.

Can anyone recommend resources for information on working in a color managed
digital video environment? I'd just like a rough overview of the variables
involved in terms of calibration in capture and display, and what editing
software out there supports color management (if any).
Thanks, Toshia
