Well there isn’t much in the way of resources out there for video/DV market sad to say.
Too make this a short and sweet post, I’ll say this. QuickTime has supported ColorSync since v3 (we are in version 7) through the use of filters. So any QT compatible software that supports QT filters will work.
You can make a pretty decent ICC profile of camera using a ColorChecker chart with standard camera profiling software. Just custom white balance like you would with a still camera.
NTSC is totally unrealistic for any display manufactured since 1990. SMPTE-C is more realistic for standard definition TV. If you are want to keep things simple and sane think about using a sRGB profile to convert to since it uses (HDTV ITUR 709 primaries) instead of SMPTE-C.
That’s the short and sweet version.
Oh, and FYI ColorVision has a Spyder TV that uses a colorimeter device to assist in calibrating a TV instead of them eyeballs. Haven’t tried it yet.
