To be honest, I don't know much about the side of color management that is
applied to movies and high-definition video, but I distinctly remember
watching one of the behind-the-scenes videos accompanying the DVD release of
Robert Rodriguez's "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" a while back.
The video spoke of the fact that this whole movie had been shot in high-def
video, and mentioned very briefly that one of the advantages of this mode of
shooting movies was that it was possible not only to get immediate feedback
on whether or not a shoot had been successful as far as the acting goes, but
that it also made possible to see whether the colors had come out correctly
through the use of what I believe was referred to as a "color-correct
display" (16x9 ratio) complete with anti-glare hood.
Rodriguez edits and post-produces his movies at his Austin home studio as
well, and seems to be at the forefront of these new technologies, which he
also employed in "Sin City" (with very impressive results in my very biased
movie-buff's opinion).
I hope that helps a bit.
Regards.
