As a printer I am not sure how u would do that apart from sending a proof and writing on it that u expect certain colours on the proof to be printed to a Lab colour . and that is very difficult. We have very little tolerance when printing a job without altering the colour across the sheet
If however u have spot colours printed in special inks then its a good idea. Pantone dont give Lab numbers for their colours so its a bit vague.   Large corporates these days tend to have their colours as Lab so it doesnt matter what it is (plastic textiles etc)
