My point is that I have seen descriptions of smart CMMs in development, and
WCS seems to be right along those lines. How far are we from seeing Smart
CMMs in ColorSync or ICC architecture?
Using CIECAM02 has the possibility of more accurate color rendering, especially in the blues and purples; though it also has the possibility of generating nonsense numbers in other areas, so there are pros and cons...
But on a more general level, any form of smart process has the built-in opportunity for more variation. That can be good and appropriate variation, but it also can be allow for user error, more variety in results, and less consistancy. Just because the nickname says "smart" doesn't mean it won't do stupid things, or allow users to do stupid things. Color management's largest current problem is not that its too inaccurate, its that it is too complex for adoption by a larger market. Adding geek features has much potential to make this worse instead of better. Algorithms are important, but user workflow is more critical.
