WE do really need to discuss this - IPEX is in April, a meeting in
Birmingham UK would be good
Hi Peter,
There is no European ink anymore.
Euroscale does not exist anymore either.
Some suppliers still deliver CMYK inks based on the
(very) old (European) DIN standards. And call
these inks Euroscale inks. But that's antique!!
Most of the ink producers can deliver inks based
on ISO 2846-1 for sheetfed and heatset web and
ISO 2846-2 inks for (coldset) newsprint.
I know that some Americans call the new ISO print
standards 'European" standards. That's wrong.
I know that Adobe labels their profile EuropeFogra27.
That's wrong too.
ISO standards are for International printers. Not for Europeans only.
So the (slightly modified) conclusion would be:
5) The US should use ISO 2846 inks !
That, we don't have to discuss in Birmingham. I think.
That's already part of the agreed standards in the US, Japan, Canada and
Europe.
SWOP, Gracol, SNAP and IFRA already agreed to use inks based on ISO 2846.
Only Mr. Supree Thongpetch (Dr. Color in Thailand) has to convince the Thai
printers to
accept the proposal to use ISO 2846 inks. He will convince them, I hope.
