Hello George,
I'd buy a new measurement device - and in near future new LCD's for the
scanning workstation. The quality of X-Rite DTP94 and Gretag EyeOne 2 is
nearly the same. Both devices work very well. The Spyder on the other hand
has quite poor quality (v1 or v2 doesn't matter really - v2 is better than
v1, but still poor).
The other question is the software. The result of the calibration is mainly
dependent on the software you use. An accurate and reliable measurement
device is only the basis of the process. I'd have a look at basICColor
display (download at www.basICColor.de). If your Monitor Optimizer is an
USB-device (DTP92USB), you can use your old instrument together with this
software too. BasICColor display is an hardware independent professional
calibration software. It supports nearly every measurement device on the
market.
Best regards,
Markus
