Neil,
Due to the internal construction the Spyder delivers good results on
some displays.
But on most displays it is quite off and not reliable. So congrats,
you are a lucky
one where the Spyder actually works. For most situations it is not
reliable and I can
not recomend it's usage for professional CMS.

I have all three, like the Gretag for it's finish + ease of
use/adaptability, like the X-Rite Monaco for it's very tight
tolerance in
measurement, yet find the Spyder 2 with it's supplied software to
do a very
nice job on both CRT and LCD. Not that far off from either of the
two much
more expensive units with their supplied software or of course with
BasicColor or ColorEyes (which is my preferred monitor software).
