Yes they had manufacturing and design problems on their first launch of the
product. They also did everything they could to exchange and remedy these
unfortunate cases. It was at a time however where both X-Rite and Gretag
were in transition of trying to be first up with an colorimeter that would
cover both LCD and CRT. Neither did that well in this respect either. How
can I say it? All three have come out with current products that meet users
needs, and all three can be successfully be used with optimum software.

The number of users that bought Epson 2000's still continued to buy the UC
series then K3 series. What I can say is all three makes now offer quality
that I am finally very happy with even if perhaps software could improve
upon. I use ColorEyes and find the match is very good, yet even though the
stats show x dE grey differences the LCD and CRT still have a different
grey. Would I abandon any of the three device makers or IC because of that?
No , not at all but will hope they do their part to improve what they can
and share that with users.
Unlike the flippant remark of Karsten Kruger that I must be a lucky one , I
have five seats here and have used the Spyder on many other posts as well
and all of this testing proves that chance has it that the Spyder V2 and
their software works very well on every system that I have tried it on.
Strangely enough we are hearing show floor rumours by different German
companies that they had delivery of get this 100 Gretag i1 Display 2
colorimeters and none of the hundred could meet a low tolerance inter
agreement spec so they all were thrown away and they opted for X-Rite.
Sales arguments and politics are a little too important in these arenas.
These type of stories are slander just as saying the Spyder irrevocably are
poor devices just have to stop.
