On a PC the Flexscan can do DDC calibration, it cannot do so on a Mac
while the CG can.
The CG's are also supposed to have picked panels, and an impeccable
calibration straight out of the box, so in theory you can have a
client use them without even running a calibrator over them, initially
which can help with client acceptance ! Eizo have told me that this
calibration is slowly invalidated as the backlight changes, and I
think transport stress will also mess them up, it will certainly
impair uniformity.
These monitors will calibrate well with ColorEyes or GMB Display or
Xrite's software whatever it is called these days- within the
limitations of what functionalities Eizo enables in the SDK to third
parties. In fact I think the L997 is what Gretag uses internally in
their demo room in Regensdorf. As for ColorNavigator, your mileage may
vary,my CG210 is beautiful, was beautiful and will hopefully continue
to be beautiful, but I abandoned ColorNavigator due to mediocre
results - I understand a new improved version is available and other
members of the list may give you opinions about it.
Frankly, for a client who is doing photo retouching and not color
management, I think any of these monitors is well superior to any of
the other parameters in the chain he will be involved in. Of course,
if he happens to be a she her eyes will be better ;)

I am in a position to recommend some Eizo monitors to a client. They are in
the market for 21" (or possibly 19") for photographic work. I am looking for
some feedback on a 21" flexscan L997 v a 19" CG. I don't think they wil
cough up for the CG210.
It appears that the L997 uses the same S-IPS panel, has a useful contrast
range of 550:1 and 14bit processing. Is the main difference the fact that
the CG models are factory calibrated and ship with Color Navigator? Is the
uniformity similar? Can you achieve a high level of calibration with an i1
and BasicColor? Since I am unable to see the units side by side I am looking
for a little guidance from those with more exposure.
I am leaning toward recommending a tried and true CG19 but the extra size is
a useful.
