I don't know if anyone has touched on the severe limitation of the
output device. After reproducing art for over five years obviously the
output is the big limitation. Though the new 12 Color Canon Pigment
printer may be cool. Though if you are just scanning for archival
purposes, I have found that X-Rite Monoaco Color has done the most
accurate job in reproducing the Macbeth 24 Color Checker chart, of
course you have to make your own custom .ref file and also if you are
shooting cross polarize it would be a great idea to make a .ref file of
he Macbeth Chart with the the polarizer filter in Place. Then use a
combo of gretags colorlab and measure tool and at least compare for
yourself which which gives us at least best mathetmatical Delt E
results. Lots to this. I also found being a better light user, I get
more accurate profiles stacking the IR Filters. Robin M, would
question this yes you do get more red noise but for repro on canvas I
never noticed it.
Just my two cent
