Scott, so I now have a monitor calibration only relevant to printing, and then only on a specific paper, right?
It's ideal for people that print 100% of the time to a specific paper but for those that print to a variety of papers, this approach gets them closer then the "always calibrate to 6500K 2.2 mentality". Can you explain the logic of this when we have paper white preview option in PS. Seems to me that covers it, no?

The state of soft proofing is pretty sad, IMHO. Adobe application won't let you save an application wide soft proofing state, so users are forced to tediously enable soft proofing for each and every document and session. The reason I mentioned calibrating to photo paper is that most non-Adobe photography workflow applications don't even have decent soft proofing capabilities. On top of this, paper white and black ink simulation rarely works well without profile tweaking. If a user always prints to one type of paper and calibrates his/her display to that paper's white temp then everything is easier from the start.
