Doesn't GMG offer their own quality
control add-on?>
It does, GMG Proof Control. It's a good product
when used with a single user of GMG Colorproof, but QCColor can be a
better solution for remote proofing as it has a server option, allowing data
from client locations to be added to an online database.
We're using Colormetrix at the moment with a
custom colorbar, so I can't help specifically with QCcolor issues. I will say
that the Fogra media wedge is a great choice for many reasons..1) you
already have it with GMG and it can readily be applied to every proof, 2) It
contains beyond simple primaries and overprint patches, and 3) you can use
the Fogra media wedge to compare to multiple printing processes ( ISO and
SWOP reference data exists within Gretag PMP software for use with
MeasureTool) as well as your own standards. Beyond that, out of your
devices, I'd opt for the i1 over the DTP41 simply because its easier to measure
the colorbar without cutting the color bar out to feed it through the DTP-41.
ICColor might be a bit bulky for measuring every proof and would require
you to remove the colorbar from the proof..
