Hi Graeme.
It would be up to the forum's administrator. If the message is not properly signed, it doesn't get posted. It doesn't sound too hard, and it's already the going policy on other forums.

Is that an existential question...? ;-) You can Google my name, or I can Google yours: if one really wants to know more, that option is available. But, yes, in theory one *could* conceivably hide behind a "nom de plume." We can only ask for so much. But we do not begrudge Samuel Clemens for "hiding" behind the "Mark Twain" moniker, after all, do we?

I myself would say that it's who someone is *and* how they behave. To me, one's expertise, legitimacy, knowledge and polite behavior are all important factors in deciding whether they get my attention.

To me, it must also be about respect for others, and making yourself known is part of that.

Which is exactly what I asked him...and have not yet received a reply to!
Incidentally, when someone makes unsupported claims or assertions, anonymously to boot, and then doesn't bother to expand on the subject when asked to do so, they surely get no brownie points from me.

I can only speak for myself when I say that anonimity casts a negative light upon someone's contribution, unless it is used for understandable reason like fear of reprisal, as is the case with whistleblowing. But I doubt that anything of that sort is occurring here.
It seems to me like poor manners to hide in a setting like this forum, where, I believe, the only spirit that makes things work for all is a collaborative and open one.
