I agree fully David, and would add my vote to banning anonymity.

sadly, i have to agree with andrew and graeme on this one. i've railed
loudly over the years about the dubious contribution of anonymous
voices in public forums. in some political debates, anonymity may be
the difference between life and death. in any other case, it's usually
just a means to get away with something. welcome to the new commons.
but it's just not worth the administrative overhead required to
enforce some sort of "real identity required" rule at a
list-management level, even if it might seem like a noble idea on the
surface.
we simply need to assume that those of us who consider ourselves
professionals in our respective fields are going to join in the
conversation openly, and choose our words here with the understanding
that we are speaking pimarily to our peers- people who are likely to
be our customers, vendors, and/or employers at some point. if we feel
the discourse is lacking from any particular source, well, there are
plenty of ways to filter out messages that do not meet the standards
we each set for our own personal s/n ratios.
in the case of this thread and all the hubbub, i tend to believe the
spam-killing motivations, and that this is not just a case of hiding
one's identity to allow safer sniping. spam sucks, and sneakemail is
simply a tool to allow better spam prevention when posting publicly.
nothing more, nothing less.
the reality is that nathan's input on this list was just as likely to
be just as toxic for the few months he posted under his khisf.com
address as it has been in the couple of months since he discovered
sneakemail.
