I personally enjoy whatever@sneakemail 's posts. They are concise and
to the point, written in sharp style without unnecessary ornaments. In
most cases he has provided valuable information. The accuracy of such
information is as everyone else's, subject to confirmation by whoever
wants to dig into it.
So what's wrong with being strongly opinionated? in fact most
creativity arises from the clash of extremes, not from the mixing of
middle-terms.
Most people are 'milder' in writing than in person, because everyone
knows what you write can snap back at you. This is a fact, not
necessarily good or bad, just a fact. Some other people are the
opposite, when writing they are able to summon the courage that
escapes them verbally. No problem with that either.
And I don't have any issues with anonymity. He might be an employee of
some company with harsh "do not participate in discussions" policies.
He might be famous. He might be the dark side of someone already
participating on the list. The only thing that matters is that he has
something to say, and as long as it's not gibberish it's as valid as
every other post. Sarcasm is just another tool to bring your points
home.
Abuse of course will get us all tired. If all his posts were attacks
at someone else, I'm sure we'll all get edgy. And if he has an issue
with ColorEyes or anyone else, I don't see why debating it will harm
anyone. Hey, I have quite an issue with Gretag-Macbeth (over iQueue)
and have not refrained (nor will) from discussing it. Whether firing
sarcastic phrases or just making milder side comments, is just a
matter of writing style over which nobody should take offence (except
perhaps the alluded ones).
