Hi Roberto.
A case can be made for the contrary opinion too: that hiding behind an
anonymous message can free the author of any fear of others "snapping back".
Specially if the reply cannot reach the original sender by virtue of any of
a number of dissembling tactics. To me, it's the definite beginning of a
slippery slope, with limitless unaccountability, incivility and
irresponsibility in sight.

I wish I could have your cool approach to this...if I agreed that it's the
more constructive one, which I do not.

So, if the anonymous poster is any one of these things (famous, the dark
side of someone already participating on the list, etc.), but we don't have
any way to verify his/her legitimacy (because we don't know who he/she is
and/or he/she is not telling us either), then why should the message be of
any interest to us at all? Who cares about a disembodied opinion unsupported
by any visible or provable authority, such as a stated identity could
provide?

Yes, it's very true that many people are too thin-skinned for their own good
or anyone else's for that matter, and that they do take offense all too
easily and without true justification. But let's not encourage more
incivility either, please, directly or indirectly.
Thank you. Regards.
