Not sure why, but I personally run my LCDs at the highest illuminance I can
get them so to minimize compensation needed at the light booth to get a
perceived brightness match.
If you want/desire to match multiple monitors or need a target setting that
will be achievable for several years then 120 - 140 cd/m2 is a good
compromise.
