>We are about to install an Epson 9800 at one of our
clients and are going to be powering it with our GMG server. My question is
.... what are others using to have their GMG software recognize the strip
reader at the remote sight? We will have an ICColor at this location and a
concern has been expressed as to what we will need in order for this to be able
to send the mx3 numbers over the internet to our server here. Anybody have any
experience at this? Thanks in advance for your reply!!>
You could simply have the client use Gretag’s
MeasureTool (or Xrite’s Colorport) to measure the TC3 chart, save the
measurement data and email it back to you where you could then import it as
current values into your mx3. This would be a lot simpler than attempting to
have your GMG seat connect to a remote spetro (unless you have an IT superstar).
MeasureTool won’t recognize the GMG TC3 template, but I’ve got
a text file that will fit the bill, let me know if you want it. You’ll
also want to ensure that you get Lab values rather than spectral.
For those who’s clients don’t want to purchase
or operate a spectro onsite, have them snail-mail the charts back to your
office for measurement. If done on a regular basis, it works just as well (unless
there consumables are fluctuating all over the place, which shouldn’t be
the case if you’ve verified you media).
Jim’s right about verifying your instruments too…if
there both of the same make and filtration, you should be ok…test first
though.
