Hi Roger.
I have also been wondering if the pre-linearization feature for testcharts
that I believe one finds in Monaco Profiler would indeed improve the
results.
I think I understand the theory behind pre-linearizing a testchart, which is
meant to space the color numbers more evenly within the space that the chart
is meant to model. That way, no two samples would be either too close or too
distant, and therefore the color space would be probed in even steps, as
much as possible, allowing for more-accurate interpolation of the
intermediate values, in any case better than it would be without
linearization.
If this holds true and indeed provides more-accurate results, then it would
be great to be able to use pre-linearization in ProfileMaker, which is the
package I use. But that software appears not to support pre-linearization,
at least not in any way that I've been able to figure out yet.
Regards.
