I'm working from Europe, so don't know much about SWOP, but if your
work is destined for CTP rather than neg to plate, wouldn't it better
to make your proofs ISO 12647-2 compliant?
We've recently had our digital proofing setup certified by FOGRA and
would recommend it to others.
As ISO 12647-2 specifies paper white you cannot just output on to any
stock and you need to accurately simulate the paper colour by using
abs col rendering of the relevant ISO profile.
Only caveats are RIP capability for fine tuning the colour
management, software for passing/failing the control wedge readings
and the relevant spectros for measuring and profile building.
Other than that, it's a breeze ;-)
