If you need the ambient light feature, you need to send the
instrument to the factory to get it. The reason is that the ambient
light filter is custom matched for each instrument and there are
tables inside the instrument that must be updated for this filter. If
you are getting the ambient filter, upgrading the instrument to the
Rev. B model would significantly improve the measurement speed, which
would be desirable if you ever added the iO automated platform.

My feeling would be that you have a well-tested instrument, why would
you want to change it ?
If you need ambient light readings, I'm sure that Xrite will sell you
the necessary accessory.
