Research carefully before you decide about the UV filter.

In my case opting for it would, I think, have been a very bad idea.

(I am primarily a photographer, trying to get what I see on my monitor onto paper.)

For some people (mostly in publishing workflows which require press matching), the UV filter is almost essential.

p.s.: My I1 is relatively new and has the ambient light reading feature. I have found this feature useful, and occasionally, fascinating.
