Title: Re: Recommended luminance for monitor calibration
Andrew,
Thanks.
But can someone then explain what is Yn named as
reference white ? Also it sounds like any "acceptable" target would do, yet when
I do the calibration, the profiler does ask me to adjust my monitor (so-called)
luminosity, my assumption this is that there must be a given target embedded
somewhere.

The
recommendation is to set the monitor at about 100cd/m for calibration. I
was wondering the reason for it. I once came accross a paper mentionning the
reference white to be this value and used as Yn in the L* equation. Is this
valid or the reason is else ?
The luminance target value is based
on many factors (example, the luminance of the viewing box, the ambient light
in around the display). As such, theres really no way to provide a
recommendation. Your mileage may vary...
