Title: Re: Recommended luminance for monitor calibration
Hi Oliver,
For CRTs I have found that 100 to 110 CD/m is fine as long as ambient light is low. On LCDs I use 130 CD/m but never more than 150 CD/m since higher luminances make softproofs pop in a very un-SWOP-ish way.
HTH,
Steve

The recommendation is to set the monitor at about 100cd/m” for calibration. I was wondering the reason for it. I once came accross a paper mentionning the reference white to be this value and used as Yn in the L* equation. Is this valid or the reason is else ?
Olivier
