The UV Cut filter is used because in the event that a media had any
UV response, during Linearization, the Yellow would reverse between
Paper White and the 5% to 10% patches. The Paper White would have a
Blue Chroma, then at 5% Yellow, the a Chroma is near 0 and at 10% and
beyond, there's a Yellow Chroma. If there's no UV filter, the
resulting Profile does have problems in the highlights.
Perhaps then it's a reflection of the linearization target
being chosen ? In many years of using density base
linearization (which uses a narrow band yellow measurement),
I can't recall seeing such a yellow reversal. It sounds like
is should be possible to counteract the effect by processing the
spectral information appropriately from a non-UV cut instrument.
