Belinda,
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But let me speak from my humble
experience with luminaires and light sources.

Short of owing a true 5nm resolution instrument to fully comply with the
ISO-3664 specs, using an EyeOnePro is probably the most sensible way of
going about this assessment.

I'll leave Danny handle the finer points of this question but I'd like to
say that, if I may, to me Correlated Color Temperature and Color Rendering
Index are two very different concepts, although both information complement
each other nicely in helping form a more complete judgement about light
sources conformance.

Yes, as Graeme mentioned, a lot of things break down to deltaEs in
colorimetry. So why not talk about the deltaE of light sources? Well,
strictly speaking, if I believe the words of a certain well respected color
scientist on this very subject, deltaE is not applicable to light sources
which he calls 'aperture colors' but was devised first and foremost with
'surface colors' in mind, you know, light reflected from a surface.

It is fair to say that if you already have one leg up into GTI lighting,
stay with GTI. You may try to mix JUST-Normlicht tubes in GTI luminaires but
you need to happen to have the right ballast in those luminaire, in order to
deliver the exact power to the tubes if you hope to get their rated color
temperature, color rendering index and what not. Otherwise, there is no
telling what you will get.

How so?

Hey, you're bound to learn something. This color puzzle in which we find
ourselves is not an easy one to untangle. At least, this document puts a lot
of relevant things in perspective.

I think that's what makes the most sense.
