Sure you can. You can also throw Light-Cyan Light-Magenta and Light-
Yellow at the problem which will allow a greater area of dot
coverage (i.e. less grainy) while still achieving very light tones
such as a simulated paper white. That's what these inks were
introduced for (among other things, of course...). Both higher
resolution and the addition of light inks are pretty standard
today, so if your printer doesn't support either, you should
consider upgrading to one that does. If you have never seen a high
resolution print with light inks do a paper simulation, then you
owe it to yourself to try it before renouncing the Abs-Col
rendering intent for proof making.

I didn't renounce absolute colorimetric rendering. What I was trying
to say, apparently not well, is that doubling the resolution won't
work for all folks - the impact on throughput may be unacceptable.
