Hi everyone,
After doing this color management process for over a decade with great great success, I am seeking your help.
I have been brought to my knees by an Epson 870 desktop inkjet printer.
I have profiled it carefully, using my Spectroscan and PMP 5.x, and the profile looks OK when viewed in ColorThink.
My target was an RGB target from Bill Atkinson's recent offerings.
The settings in the print drivers (Mac OS X) were for the highest resolution, 6-colors, and Epson-branded photo glossy paper.
The test photo is a nice outdoor exposure, nothing out of the ordinary.
When I print the same photo in my office on an Epson 9500 (with its own excellent profile), the result is perfect. When we view the image on the client's Sony LCD display (recently profiled), it looks very nice also. Comparing the print from MY Epson 9500 and the client's LCD display, there is a very reasonable "soft proof" relationship.
When I print the photo on the 870 printer on the desk at my client's office, it comes out 20 points too dark, and about 18.73 points too yellow (made-up numbers).
The prints from this printer, when output from Photoshop, look awful. I have not tried other applications.
I think I am missing something esoteric here, and I am stumped.
Can anyone offer any assistance?
Best wishes,
Brian P. Lawler
