You are a seasoned user, so I trust that you went through the driver
settings and made sure that no automatic adjustments are made by the driver
to the image, which would make the output variable and therefore
non-profilable.
I also trust that the color settings in Photoshop's Print With Preview
dialog box have been selected correctly.
Maybe there is a hidden or hard-to-find setting, or more than one, that must
be disabled in the Epson driver before the testchart can be printed
properly.
If I were you, I would go through all the driver settings, ALL of them, one
by one, and make sure that there is not anything there that changes the
images in an unpredictable manner.

It could very well be a poorly-named or -labeled command in the driver that
ends up messing up your output.
