The only reason that I'm aware of to run MCYK is to avoid mottling
in blues. Reducing the line screen frequency may accomplish the
same thing.
I can see why print order could affect mottle, but not why one
sequence is better than the other.
Define "better".
I wonder if the print order problem is a result of printers in the UK
having to deal with CMYK images set up to SWOP Coated. As all the
images were set up an American Web Press Standard with different
inks, UK printers changed the print order because that happened to
work at the time. Something that 'worked' before is a difficult thing
to change.
As I said, the press minder could not give me a reason why they were
using MCY, but then again I couldn't give a reason to use CMY either,
other than its nor the standard.
What's the tack sequence of the inkset they're using?
