I just got delivery of a used (off-lease) Dell Trinitron
21" monitor and find that the RED gun needs to be set to
100% to achieve a 6500k white point (using an OptixPro).
Once profiled the Luminance is only 74 cd/m² while my
ageing Mitsubishi 2040u still gets over 100 cd/m² with the
Red set to only 85%. I´m wondering whether this used (and
inexpensive) Trinitron should be rejected as DOA or whether
it´s still within a usable range? Curiously Monaco´s
OptixPro guide displays a screenshot of the final step
before saving the profile with only 61.59 cd/m² which
leaves me wondering... I thought anything under 80 cd/m² is
unacceptable for colour work?
Can a technician adjust these things to get more white
Luminance? It's for a 2nd system and I just want it to last
another 6-12 months until (hopefully) more reasonably
priced LCD solutions are available.
Your comments are appreciated.
