Well, one of the things they did was to fit a small plastic plate drilled
with holes in front of the Spyder to restrict its viewing angle. Because
lcds usually have a very small viewing angle (for correct color), you do not
want light to get to the Spyder from wide angles - even if it is from the
same color patch on screen, it will not measure the same as the vertical
light. I think they also fitted a greenish filter to change its sensitivity.
These were removable on the Spyder2 for use on a crt.

Does anyone know what was done to the original Spyder to convert it to
read flat screen displays as well as CRTs? That is, besides taking off
the suction cups and dangling it. I am wondering if I can still use my
original Spyder for flat screens somehow...
