Hi,
I have been looking for more information about the capability and usage of
RGB profiles for printers. Maybe some of the list readers can help me
understand more.
I know that some printer processes should appropriately be profiled as RGB.
In these situations, it seems a supplemental process or utility exists that
produces black. For example maybe there is a RIP that produces the black
data.
What I would like to learn more about is what the profile is capable of in
these situations, and what are the rules / suggestions around the
supplemental black generation process.
For starters - if one builds an RGB profile for a print process - is the
profile capable of producing black? Or, must the profile be used in
conjunction with the supplemental black gen process? And what if the black
gen process is not available for some reason?
Also - if the black gen process has different settings - is it appropriate
to build MULTIPLE profiles - so that one profile is used with one setting,
a second profile is used for a different setting, etc? In other words - is
this situation somewhat like the ability to use different papers (in which
a specific profile is suitable for use with a specific paper media?)
If anyone can share their comments or expertise - or point me to a resource
where I can learn more - I will appreciate your assistance.
Thanks in advance.
