Hi List members
I'm hoping you help. Our university is replacing the monitors in our
College
of Creative Arts student mac labs. We are currently running Apple
Cinema Displays (ACD's). I have been asked to be on the testing team
for evaluating new monitors in relation to meeting our graphics display
needs because I organise the colour management of two of our student
mac labs. (I use eye-onemacth 3.6 and eyeone display2 hardware to
profile our displays.)
For cost reasons our university would prefer to go with either
Viewsonic or Phillips LCD monitors if possible for the replacements.
They will go with ACD's, but only if they need to i.e. for monitor
performance reasons.
Personally speaking, If I can get the same consistency, quality
profiling (and no 'hurt me' auto calibrate buttons) that I get with the
ACD's I'd be happy. However I am not familiar with Viewsonic or
Phillips monitors
Questions
- In the opinion of list members, are there any Viewsonic or Phillips
monitors comparable in color performance / profiling to the current
Apple cinema displays ?
- These monitors will be in student labs. Any experiences with
suitability of Viewsonic or Phillips LCD monitors for color management
in these environments?
- Is there software I can buy that I can use to _objectively_ compare
the color performance of various monitors using the i1display2?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Peter Miles
